CULTURAL TROUPES

As another feature of the celebration of the Hornbill Festival 2010 at Naga Heritage, Kisama, various cultural troupes also took part at the cultural programme on the first day of the celebration. The following cultural troupes performed during the Festival were as follows: Yimmongdong Cultural Club Chungtia Village (Ao) performed warrior dance; Chozuba Village Cultural Troupe (Chakhesang) performed Rhosi li; Mech Kachari Cultural Troupe (Kachari) performed Dalai-o Banani (Love song); Wannong Cultural Club Keangpang (Konyak) on Aoleang Hem Lokpu (Aoleang song); Kuki Cultural Troupe, Athibung (Kuki) - Saipi Khupsuh. Other cultural troupes including Lotsu Cultural Club (Lotha), Mangko cultural Troupe, Shiponger village (Yimchunger), Sangvi Cultural, Women Society (Sangtam), Akhegwo Cultural Troupe (Pochury), Kasha Village Cultural, Troupe (Rengma), Yehemi Cultural Society (Sumi), Renga Cultural Club, Ngwalwa (Zeliang), Alder Club, Khonoma (Angami), Waoshu Village dancing Society (Chang), Kingnyu village Cultural Troupe (Khiamniungan) and Yongnyah Cultural club (Phom) also added colours to the cultural programme with their cultural dances and songs.

1 dead, several injured in mishap

One child was killed while several children were injured when a Mini Bus in which they were traveling rolled down some 30 to 40 feet below the National Highway 61 near the directorate of Fishery department in Kohima today. Police said the bus bearing Registration No NL-01B -2641 carrying around 71 children was heading towards the Highland Park near IG stadium when it met with the accident at around 11.45 am after failing to negotiate a turn. The bus was reportedly traveling at a high speed.Out of the 71 children, one died in a hospital while 62 children were discharged after administering first aid and eight children were still in hospital but reported to be out of danger. The deceased child Vikheshe (12) son of Vikhase, Police personnel, DEF Kohima of Ighanumi village, a class VII student of Holy Family School AG succumbed to injuries at the Naga Hospital Kohima.
