‘Paranoid’ HM should resign: NPCC

Reacting to Home minister Imkong L Imchen’s apology to the State media and admission of his “foot-in-the-mouth” syndrome, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has termed the Home minister as “paranoid” and demanded his resignation.NPCC in press release issued by media cell member Dr. K Hoshi said the admission of the Home minister was most unfortunate and humiliating to the people of Nagaland, and that the minister had stooped so low as to admit his “foot-in-the-mouth” syndrome repeatedly which, the minister said, he was aware of. “That shows that he had made the irresponsible utterances deliberately. Since a syndrome is a disease, there is no guarantee that the same foolish act shall not be repeated in future,” the release stated.NPCC said giving the gravity of the law and order situation in Nagaland, it was very risky for the State to be headed by a “paranoid” Home Minister, and demanded his resignation for bringing “shame to the whole State” and for “distressing the Hon’ble chair of Home Minister.” NPCC also alleged this was not the first instance that Imchen had “venomously” spoken out against the Fourth Estate. “Though he had admitted his mistake publicly, he must be thinking and satisfied that his purpose had been served,” it added. NPCC further said the Home minister’s frequent “off-board utterances also show that the Chief Minister is not keeping his house in order.”It may be mentioned the Home minister stirred a hornet’s nest when he accused the State media of indulging in “yellow journalism” during a joint meeting with district administration, police and business community October 21 last, to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in Dimapur. The Dimapur Press Club on October 22 demanded “public apology” from the Home minister for questioning the integrity of the State media. KYKL clarifies on killing of Prof Islamuddin

IMPHAL, May 30: The underground KYKL in a lengthy clarification on the matter of its killing Prof. Islamuddin of the Manipur University, said it understands the outrage of the public in the killing of a teacher, but is saddened by the response of Meitei Pangal organisations that the KYKL had targeted a Meitei Pangal deliberately. It said this was far from the truth and that the KYKL treats Meitei Pangals, Meitei Chistians, Meitei Buddists, Meitei Hindus, Meitei Athiests as belonging to one Meitei community, and this is very much enshrined in its constitution. It said Prof. Islamuddin was killed not because of his ethnicity or community but because he was part of a corrupt clique which was usurping all powers of the Manipur University in order to convert the university into their private fiefdom. It said the KYKL has Meitei Pangal cadres in it and the Meitei Pangal community would realise the party is never against this fraternal community at all in time. It said the MU clique had to be...
