AMWJU decides to stick to code of conduct

Imphal, Jun 26: The special general body meeting of the All Manipur Working Journalists` Union, AMWJU, which was held yesterday at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal has resolved to stand unitedly against any attempt of the state government to violate the norms and guidelines of the Press Council of India.The special general body of AMWJU was participated by members of both the electronic and print media yesterday and affirmed to follow the local code of conduct of the AMWJU and stand jointly against the violation of this local code of conduct.The AMWJU meeting also further resolved to appeal to both the government and the militant organisations not to put any kind of restrictions on the media which had a important role as mediator between the government and people in the state. The meeting further condemned the highly personal threats on some of the representatives of the AMWJU recently by one of the outfits and urged all organisations not to personalise issues related to the journalists as a whole.

Financial literacy campaign

Imphal, June 01 2009: A campaign on utilizing money in proper way was conducted at Sheema Theatre, Thoubal Bazar today as a part of ongoing awareness campaign of the National Alliance for Financial Literacy (NEFA) in collaboration with Bank Project, RDO, Lamshang with the assistance from the City Bank Centre. Imkong on 33% women quota

DIMAPUR: Home Minister Imkong L Imchen today articulated his solidarity with Naga women on 33 % reservation as the tug of war over the issue remains irresolute till date. Speaking as chief guest at the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Dimapur Watsu Telongjem at IMC, he, however, questioned why there had been no protest from any of the different women organisations when the civic polls at Mokokchung was boycotted last year by their male counterparts as a sign of protest against the amendment. He observed that there had been no women organisation voicing against the boycott at that time. “So it was thought women didn’t want reservation,” he maintained.
