KOHIMA, JAN 26 (NEPS): Members of Lions Club of Kohima (LCK) led by its President Lion Dr Sashimeren Aier has today visited Kohima Mental Hospital and interacted with the patients, doctors and nurses. As usual Members of LCK used to visit Leprosy Centers, Mental Hospital, Orphanage Centers, etc in and around State capital, Kohima on occasions like Republic Day or Independence Day Celebrations. And today, the team led by its President Dr Sashimeren Aier visited the Mental Hospital situated here at Aradura Hills today. As a token of love and affection, the Team has given soaps, tooth pastes, detergent items, mineral water bottles, eatable items etc to the Hospital doctors and nurses for the patients. The Team members have personally provided the eatable stuffs to the patients, besides they have moved around seeing from one room to another. KOHIMA, JAN 21 (NEPS): Principal Director, Health and Family Welfare, Dr V Sekhose is of the opinion that so long the in-service doctors did not disturb or violate their official duties, it hardly matters when they keep providing services to others. He felt that services of most senior doctors who were talented in their areas of specialties were mostly sought after by many and it was difficult for them to refuse their request. “Of course, if they do not attend their office duties and start attending to others, then it is a violation,” the Principal Director told NEPS here today. “But what is wrong, when we utilize their services during their off duty.” Dr Sekhose also pointed out that doctors could not work 24 hours in hospitals except in some emergency cases. “This has to be understood by the people,” he stated. IMPHAL, Oct 7: Four women protestor, including two Gram Panchayat members and a Meira Paibi secretary, allegedly involved in incident of storming at the residence of IFC and YAS minister, N. Biren, have been remanded into the judicial custody till October 21, for failing to furnish insurer for PR bonds. The protestors were produced before the JMIC, Imphal today, as their remands expired. The court considering the case diary pronounced they were not involved in the incident thus bail was granted Rs. 10,000 PR bond each, however failing to produced any insurer for the bond they were remanded into judicial custody till October 21. IMPHAL, Oct 7: Failure of the state government to commission the Jawarharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science, JNIMS, at Porompat by the deadline it set earlier was on account of a shortfall of 20 percent in the recruitment of teaching faculty, a statement by the commissioner health and family welfare said. The statement said last years the government made all out efforts to set up the state government medical college. A team of Medical Council of India, MCI, which inspected the project in July reported that the number of hospital beds had increased to 300 and occupancy was 70 percent which were comfortably within the criterion it set for setting up medical colleges. However, of 55 strong teaching faculty essential, only 44 vacancies could be filled. Likewise, out of 42 residents doctors required, only 41 could be recruited.
