Sazo stresses importance of national focus

CHOZUBA (PHEK), JAN 18 (NEPS): The 2-Day 23rd Session of the Chozuba Range Wrestling Association Meet 2010 has kicked off today here at Chozuba Town Local Ground with Chotisuh Sazo, Parliamentary Secretary, Social Welfare, Child and Women Development opening it.

Addressing the mammoth gathering, the Parliamentary Secretary highlighted about DAN government’s policies towards the development of games and sports in the state. He also informed that DAN Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio himself was holding key post of presidentship of the Nagaland Olympic Association, which was indicative of his seriousness on the sports.

Sazo disclosed that the state did not have any industries, companies and most of the youth depended on the government for their livelihood. In this area, he drew the attention of the Naga wrestlers, promoters and leaders of the associations to give more emphasis on the national style rather than Naga style. “Because Naga wrestlers have wider scope to reach the top as they will have to fight as per the weight category system,” he pointed out. “And once they could make it to the top, there are many scopes to get them absorbed in various services, although the state also has 5% job reservation for the sportspersons who excelled in various sports disciplines.”

Asking sportspersons to exhibit their sportsmanship spirit, so that others can emulate them, Sazo urged the Naga wrestlers to do their regular exercises. Through such exercises, he said, they not only maintained their stamina but also professionalism.

Earlier, in his presidential address, Pulesayi Lohe, President, Chozuba Range Wrestling Association, while welcoming the Chief Guest, Sazo, lauded the latter for his always-ready-to-help attitude to the needy people in general and youths in particular.

Guest of Honor, Thupule Lohe, president, Chozuba Range Public Organization, also spoke on the occasion. Rev Pukrolhu Lohe delivered invocation prayer and Chakhesang Cultural Research Centre, Chetheba also presented welcome song. Ex MLA Nuzota, many Chakhesang government officials, and other sports personalities were among others who attended the mega wrestling meet.

MOTIHARI/IMPHAL, DECEMBER 1 (AGENCIES): The mystery surrounding the whereabouts of United National Liberation Front (UNLF) chairman Rajkumar Meghen, who went missing after being reportedly caught in Bangladesh about two months ago, was over finally when he was arrested at Motihari in Bihar on Tuesday. KYKL clarifies on killing of Prof Islamuddin

IMPHAL, May 30: The underground KYKL in a lengthy clarification on the matter of its killing Prof. Islamuddin of the Manipur University, said it understands the outrage of the public in the killing of a teacher, but is saddened by the response of Meitei Pangal organisations that the KYKL had targeted a Meitei Pangal deliberately.
